But look at everything Ali lost by standing up for what he believed. He lost his heavyweight championship, something he had dreamed about since he was a kid. He lost millions of dollars in income. And instead of being loved, he was getting hate mail and death threats every day.

If he was just pretending to be against the war, he did a pretty good job of it.

He had to earn a living, and he got some strange offers. There was a TV sitcom at the time called Mr. Ed. It was about a talking horse. For real! They wanted Ali to be on the show. That never happened.

I gotta YouTube that show. There was also talk of Ali playing the boxer Jack Johnson in a play called The Great White Hope.

Ali did costar with Kris Kristofferson in a four-hour TV mini-series called Freedom Road. And he played the title role in a 1969 Broadway musical called Buck White. Ali even sang a song called “We Came in Chains.”
